Sheriff Blaise Smith announces that the SMPSO received a $5,000 First Responder Grant from Plains All-American Pipeline. The SMPSO was able to order some much-needed equipment that will be put into service immediately in order to enhance our responder abilities in St. Mary Parish.
Sheriff Smith said, “the partnership between public and private agencies greatly enhances our emergency responder capabilities, and we are deeply thankful for these resources.”
The Plains All American Pipeline company explains its mission of demonstrating their commitment to the communities in which they operate by investing in their emergency responder grant funding.
“At Plains All American Pipeline, L.P., we strive to live by the core values of safety, accountability, ethics and integrity, respect, and fairness every day. One of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to these values is to seek out opportunities to be a good neighbor by supporting the local first responder community. Plains offers a First Responder Grant Program aimed at supporting the training and resource needs of responders in U.S. communities where Plains operates.”
With the grant funds, the SMPSO was able to order 4 computers, 2 sets of spike strips, and 66 orange traffic cones. All these new resources were immediately put into service in several divisions of the SMPSO.
