Morgan City Woman Arrested After Drug-Related Overdose in Bayou L’Ourse

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Sarah Elizabeth Polk, 27, of 515 Willow Street, Morgan City, LA, following a drug related overdose in Bayou L’Ourse on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies and narcotics personnel were dispatched to an Ann Street residence in connection with a possible drug overdose.

Once officials arrived, it was determined that a young female had taken an apparent heroin overdose. The victim was administered narcon to reverse the heroin effects.

A follow-up investigation resulted in extensive interviews of all persons on site including Sarah Elizabeth Polk. During Polk’s interview, she provided inconsistent statements. Based on all the information and evidence gathered Sarah Elizabeth Polk was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Obstruction of Justice

*Illegal Use of Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence Under Age 17

*Distribution of Heroin

Sarah Elizabeth Polk is currently incarcerated. Her bond has been set at $50,000.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
