Before adjourning the 2019 Regular Legislative Session on June 6, legislators approved a bill securing $150 million in dedicated funding for I-49 South.

The legislation – HB 578 by Rep. Tanner Magee – directs nearly $700 million in proceeds from the Deepwater Horizon litigation to transportation projects across the state.

“This is the largest transportation funding push by legislators in decades,” said I-49 South Coalition Chairman David Mann, “It’s a huge victory and we appreciate that our elected officials understand the tremendous benefits Louisiana stands to gain from completing I-49 South.”

The I-49 South Coalition thanks Rep. Magee, Sen. LaFleur, Sen. Cortez, and others for their efforts to make progress on this game-changing project.
