Berwick Man Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges in Drug Free Zone

On April 18, 2019 at approximately 5:01 PM officers of the Berwick Police Department executed a search warrant on Second Street in Berwick.

During a search of the residence officers located Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Gabapentin pills, a digital scale, marijuana grinder, and other items of drug paraphernalia. Officers made contact with Toups who was found to be in possession of Xanax pills as well. The residence is located less than 2,000 feet from a church.

Toups was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule IV CDS Xanax, Possession of Marijuana (Under 14 Grams), Possession of a Legend Drug (Gabapentin), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law Drug Free Zone.

Toups was later transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center due to medical reasons and posted a $30,000 bond.

LANCE TOUPS, W/M, 46, of Second Street in Berwick was arrested on April 18, 2019 at 6:17 PM for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of xanax, posession of marijuana (under 14 grams), possession of gabapentin, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
