Funeral services for Willie Thomas “Billy” Pontiff will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Church of the Assumption in Franklin during a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass he will be laid to rest with his parents and son in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Joel Faulk will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday at Church of the Assumption beginning at 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
Willie, affectionately known as Billy, passed away at the age of 79 in the evening hours of Sunday, September 8, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House in Lafayette. Billy was born in Franklin on Wednesday, November 8, 1939, one of three sons born to Willie and Rena Pontiff, and was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
Survivors include his son, Randy Pontiff; nieces and nephews, Donna Landry and her husband Nelson, Donovan Pontiff and his wife Sherry, Richard Pontiff and his wife Robben, Cindy Hebert and her husband Shane, and Lorraine Ellzey; as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Darren Bernard Pontiff; his parents, Willie Taylor Pontiff and Rena Champagne Pontiff; and his brothers and their wives, Charles and Betty Pontiff, and Lester and Leatrice Pontiff.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Landry, Benjamin Pontiff, Donald “DJ” Pontiff Jr., Michael Rodriguez, Michael Burke, Dax Lanclos, and Torger Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Donovan Pontiff, Ray Pontiff, Richard Pontiff and Tim Lancon.
