Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Terrance Vicks (B/M, 23), of Thibodaux, La for Attempted Simple Burglary, Theft and an Outstanding Contempt of Court Warrant.
On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at approximately 1:35 p.m. officers responded to a theft that occurred at a business in the 100 block of Canal Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers learned that an employee suspected two suspects of shoplifting. Although the suspects were no longer on scene, the employee reviewed video surveillance and confirmed that the two suspects did in fact conceal toiletry and clothing items and exited the store without rendering payment. The employee was able to positively identify one of the suspects as Terrance Vicks.
Officers knew Vicks was also wanted for Attempted Simple Burglary, stemming from a July 20, 2018 incident where he was seen attempting to break into a vehicle, before being scared off by the car alarm and the homeowner. Surrounding video surveillance footage captured Vicks in the area matching the description of the suspect. This incident resulted in a warrant being issued for Vick’s and he has remained at large since. Officers also knew Vicks to have an outstanding Thibodaux City Court of Thibodaux Failure to Appear for Revocation Warrant for his arrest.
Officers later went to the last known address of Vicks, but were unsuccessful in locating him. While at the same apartment complex in the 1300 Block of Ridgefield Avenue, Officers learned that Vick’s was now living in a different apartment than what was on record. After receiving permission to enter the apartment, Vicks was found in a bedroom. Vicks was immediately apprehended and later admitted to the shoplifting. Stolen merchandise was recovered in the apartment and later released back to the business. Vicks denied any involvement in the Attempted Vehicle Burglary.
The second suspect involved in the shoplifting is still unknown at this time. Vicks was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where he was booked and charged accordingly. Vicks is being held on a combined $35,000.00 Bond and a No Bond Hold on the Contempt of Court Warrant.
