Colonel Terry Daigre states that on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, an investigation began in reference to multiple phones calls that were made to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and South Terrebonne High School regarding a potential school shooting at S.T.H.S.
During this investigation deputies learned that multiple parents of students checked them out of school after seeing a Social Media Post “Snap Chat” that there was going to be a school shooting. There was over 70 students who were checked out of school because of this information that was shared over Social Media. There were multiple concerned citizens who called S.T.H.S throughout the day asking if everyone was safe.
After further investigation deputies identified the suspect as a Tate Michael Songe. He was currently a student at S.T.H.S.
On Monday morning, Feb. 4, 2019, the investigation continued and deputies made contact with Songe at S.T.H.S. Songe was questioned regarding the allegations and he admitted to posting the Threat on Social Media.
Tate Michael Songe, age 17, 907 La. Highway 55 Montegut, La. was arrested Terrorizing and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. Later on Monday evening Songe was released from jail after posting a $1,000.00 bond.
