A Thursday afternoon fire in a wall at the Patterson Truck Stop resulted in minor damage to the exterior of the building. At approximately 2:30 p.m., employees of the truck stop reported the smell of smoke and noticed smoke emitting from the interior and exterior walls of the building.
Members of the Patterson Volunteer Fire Department and deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office were able to remove the vinyl from the exterior of the building and extinguish the smoke with a water hose before a pumper truck arrived. The source of the smoke was not located. No injuries were reported although Acadian Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to remain on standby.
Firefighters were on scene for less than thirty minutes.
