Two former St. Mary Parish public officials pass away over Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Two active citizens and former public officials passed away within a day of each other.

Larry Bergeron, who served as the Morgan City Chief Administrative Officer under several mayors and a former city councilman, passed away on Friday, November 23. He was 78. Bergeron also served as a funeral director at Twin City Funeral Home.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Visitation and Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City under the direction of Twin City Funeral Home. Gary Duhon Sr., who served as a St. Mary Councilman for two terms, passed away on Saturday, November 24. Duhon, 72, also served in several capacities of public service including the Amelia Volunteer Fire Department, the St. Mary Parish Levee Board and later as president of the Port Commission.

Visitation for Duhon will be held at Hargrave Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia, Louisiana on Wednesday, November 28, at 11:00 a.m.
