One confirmed dead after vehicle strikes mobile home in Bayou Vista

St. Mary Parish Coroner Dr. Lianter Albert has confirmed with KQKI News that an elderly man died when his vehicle struck a mobile home at the corner of Hwy. 182 and Ross Lane in Bayou Vista. The victim’s name has not been released.

Eyewitnesses report that for unknown reasons, the vehicle was traveling on Jupiter Street at a high rate of speed before crossing Highway 182 and striking the mobile home at approximately 1:20 pm on Sunday afternoon.

Two occupants were in the mobile home at the time but were not injured.

Albert said they were waiting for an investigator with his office to arrive to further investigate the scene. Louisiana State Police Troop I and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office are also investigating the crash.

First responders from multiple agencies were assisting at the scene including Acadian Ambulance, Bayou Vista, Morgan City, and Patterson Volunteer Fire Departments and Berwick Police Department.
