The Franklin Police Department responded to 27 complaints over the past weekend and made the following arrests:
The following arrest stems from an incident that occurred on September 9, 2018. On September 9, 2018, at approximately 11:57 PM, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a stop sign violation on Weber St. at Iberia St. The vehicle refused to stop for officers and continued to travel down Iberia St. at a high rate of speed. The driver, later identified as Arthur Jack, continued to travel in the same manner without stopping onto Eagle St., Bigler St., and back onto Weber St. Officers attempted to block the vehicle, when the vehicle turned off of Weber St. into a gas station parking lot, and then back onto Weber St. where the driver lost control of the vehicle. Jack then fled on foot in an attempt to evade police and was apprehended shortly after behind a local business. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the vehicle was taken from Baldwin without the owner’s permission. Officers located narcotics while booking Jack.
Arthur Jack, 23, of Pickett Ln., Franklin, LA, was arrested on September 10, 2018, at 2:43 AM, on the charges of obstruction of a highway commerce, resisting an officer by flight, reckless operation, possession of schedule I narcotics (marijuana), introduction of contraband into a penal institution, stop sign violation – 3 counts, speeding, no driver’s license, illegal possession of stolen things, criminal trespassing, theft of a motor vehicle, and simple criminal damage to property. Jack was booked, processed, and held on a $10,000.00 bond.
