Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced that the results are in from the Labor Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign that the Thibodaux Police Department participated in from August 17th, 2018, to September 3rd, 2018.
Utilizing the Louisiana Highway Safety grant, Thibodaux Police Officers were assigned to saturation patrols on various days during various time periods throughout the campaign. During the saturation patrols, the primary task was to arrest impaired drivers while aiding in the Thibodaux Police Department’s high visibility enforcement strategy.
As a result of the campaign, participating Officers made 178 contacts resulting in 125 citations issued, 6 arrests other than impaired driving, and 0 DWI arrests within the City Limits of Thibodaux. During this wave, we also partnered with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in a D.W.I. Checkpoint, in an attempt to remove impaired drivers from the roadways.
“There is a higher volume of vehicles traveling the roadway during the holiday season,” said Chief Zeringue. “Enforcement campaigns such as the DSGP help ensure that as our loved ones travel the roadway, they can do so without fear of being victimized by impaired drivers.”
We have a zero tolerance for drinking and driving and are proud to announce that “ZERO” DWI Arrest were made during the wave inside the City Limits. This shows that drivers are being responsible and complying to the laws as they should.
The Thibodaux Police Department has participated in enforcement waves such as the DSGP at various times in previous years and plans to continue doing so for the remainder of 2018 and into future years.
