Pierre Part Woman Charged With Drug Violations After Traffic Stop

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Savannah Claire Aucoin, 26, of 151 North Bay Road, Pierre Part, LA, on traffic and drug law violations following a traffic stop on LA 70 east of Paincourtville on Wednesday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle commit a traffic violation. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver and lone occupant as Savannah Claire Aucoin. The officer noted a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

The driver was interviewed and initially refused consent to search her vehicle. A K-9 unit was called to the scene. Although the violator at some point provided comments of marijuana in the vehicle, the K-9 was utilized conducting an open-air sniff and alerted positive to areas of the vehicle. The vehicle was searched, resulting in the seizure of marijuana, meth-amphetamine and paraphernalia consistent with the consumption of both drugs.

As a result, Savannah Claire Aucoin was advised of her rights, arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where she was booked on counts of:
*Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Aucoin was incarcerated pending a bond proceeding.
