Chez Hope reacts to Domestic Homicide in St. Mary Parish’s second Domestic Violence Homicide in two weeks

Local Shelter Mourns the Loss of Naiasalyn Brown and her Unborn Child in St. Mary Parish’s Second Domestic Violence Homicide in Two Weeks

[Franklin, Louisiana, July 18, 2018]

On behalf of the Board and Staff of Chez Hope, our hearts and prayers go out to Naiasalyn’s family and friends as well as our community. A Domestic Violence murder affects so many people, especially in a small community like ours. Chez Hope is here to provide support and comfort to the victim’s family and friends and to be a shoulder to cry on as well as provide an ear to listen.

Naiasalyn Brown’s family will be holding a vigil Wednesday, July 18 at 7 pm at 239 N. Coulee Street in Glencoe.

If anyone is involved in a Domestic Violence situation, our Advocates are standing by 24 hours a day to help. You may need someone to talk to; you may need shelter; you may need a temporary restraining order; you may need to start your life all over again. Our services are free and confidential.

In 2017, Louisiana ranked third in the nation for Domestic Violence homicides. There were 62 Domestic Violence Homicides in that year, 73% of which were committed with firearms. 21% of these cases involved suicide. This is the second Domestic Violence-related murder this month in St. Mary Parish.
