Vigil held in honor of victim who died in Franklin murder-suicide

Family, friends, public officials, including Franklin Mayor Eugene Foulcard, and supporters gathered in Franklin on Friday evening to honor the life of 36 year old April Charles, who died as a result of an apparent domestic violence situation on Thursday.

Charles was suspected of having been shot by 30 year old Kenneth Smith Jr., which through investigation is believed to have shot Charles twice before shooting himself. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene while Charles succumbed to two gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Representatives from Chez Hope Family Violence Crisis Center were also on hand to show their support for Charles’s family.
