CHEZ HOPE REACTS TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOMICIDE

Local Domestic Violence Shelter Mourns the Loss of April Charles

[Franklin, Louisiana, July 6, 2018] In 2017, Louisiana ranked third in the nation for Domestic Violence homicides. There were 62 Domestic Violence Homicides in 2017, 73% of which were committed with firearms. 21% of these cases involved suicide.

On behalf of the Board and Staff of Chez Hope, our hearts and prayers go out to April’s family and friends as well as our community. A Domestic Violence murder affects so many people, especially in a small town like ours. Chez Hope is here to provide support and comfort to the victim’s family and friends and to be a shoulder to cry on as well as provide an ear to listen.

If anyone is involved in a Domestic Violence situation, our Advocates are standing by 24 hours a day to help. You may need someone to talk to; you may need shelter; you may need a temporary restraining order; you may need to start your life all over again. Our services are free and confidential.
