Houma Man Charged With 19 Additional Counts of Felony Residential Contractor Fraud

 

As a result of the investigation which began on May 17th Arthur Lee Williams has been charged with 19 additional counts of Felony Residential Contractor Fraud. The total monetary amount which he has defrauded the citizens of Terrebonne Parish of is nearly $93,000.

Detectives found that Williams would accept a large down payment for the work to be performed and he would just fail to perform the task which he was contracted to do. The investigation also revealed that he was operating under fraudulent accounts and failed to secure the proper insurance and licenses.

The Houma Police Department would like to thank everyone that came forward and provided information that assisted with the investigation.

On May 17th 2018 the Houma Police Department began an investigation regarding a fraudulent activity by a cement contractor. Investigators then learned that Arthur Lee Williams took a $3,000 deposit from the victim in March of 2018 and has failed to perform the job. On May 24th investigators located Williams and took him into custody with incident. Williams was then transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he was booked with one count of Felony Residential Contractor Fraud.

Investigators have also learned of many other potential victims that the Houma Police Department will be attempting to make contact with as further charges are expected.
