Three Arrested After High Speed Chase

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people in connection with a high speed chase that occurred Thursday afternoon that ended in the Burns Point area.  The Sheriff’s Office said deputies patrolling in the Franklin area assisted with a vehicle pursuit that began in the city limits of Franklin. Deputies pursued a vehicle, occupied by multiple individuals that fit the description of a vehicle being sought by the Jeanerette Police Department. Deputies pursued the vehicle at a dangerously high rate of speed from Franklin to the Burns Point area, where the vehicle crashed and suspects fled on foot. Through the investigation, deputies located 30-year-old Courtland Fullwood, 23-year-old Darian Bridget, and 24-year-old Kurwin Webb, Jr. Deputies found evidence that they were occupying the vehicle being pursued. Deputies also learned that Fullwood held active warrants for his arrest. Fullwood, Bridget, and Webb were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail was set as of Friday morning.  Below is a full list of charges.

Courtland Fullwood, 30, 110 Third Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on June 7, 2018 at 7:07 pm for the following offenses:

  • Aggravated flight from an officer
  • Resisting arrest
  • Patterson Police Department failure to appear warrant for speeding
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for theft of a motor vehicle
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving without a license and improper backing
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of stop sign violation and driving without a license
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of stolen things
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft by shoplifting
  • Morgan City Police Department warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace (language)
  • Failure to appear warrant on the charge of domestic abuse battery

Darian Bridget, 23, 110 Martin Luther King Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 7, 2018 at 9:16 pm for aggravated flight from an officer and resisting arrest.

Kurwin Webb Jr., 24, 1019 Grace Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on June 7, 2018 at 10:26 pm for aggravated flight from an officer and resisting arrest.

UPDATE: The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office along with the Franklin Police Department, Morgan City Police Department, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Franklin Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, and Wild Life and Fishers are continuing the search for additional suspects.

PURSUIT – Deputies are currently assisting other agencies with a vehicle pursuit that has ended in the Burns Point area near the Burns Point Park. A perimeter has been set up and deputies are currently searching for several suspects. The suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous. We ask that you avoid this area.
