Lafayette – Today, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I arrested 36-year-old Destin Broussard of Lafayette for his involvement in a reckless operation incident committed on Ambassador Caffery near Guilbeaux Road in Lafayette.
On May 28, 2018, Troopers were made aware of and viewed a video posted to social media which showed a small car and a silver pickup truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the truck was observed on the video driving recklessly, and committed several traffic violations in a matter of a few seconds. The video also shows the driver of the truck intentionally swerving into the car’s lane forcing the driver of the car to travel into oncoming traffic.
Due to the danger the driver of the truck posed to the motoring public, Troopers investigated the incident. Through investigative means it was determined that Broussard was the driver of the silver pickup truck, and Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for him. Broussard was arrested for Reckless Operation and Aggravated Obstruction of a Roadway. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Regardless if it is witnessed firsthand or viewed online, Troopers will continue to take action against reckless driving behavior. Troopers would also like to remind the public that the quickest way to report dangerous situations while driving is to contact the nearest LSP Troop by dialing *LSP (*577) on your cell phone.
