St. Martinville Woman Booked On Several Drug And Failure To Appear Charges

(St. Martinville, LA)-Shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning, a St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputy observed a vehicle passing in a no passing zone near an intersection on Duchamp Road in St. Martinville, LA., and initiated a traffic stop. Following the traffic stop, a consent to search was granted by the driver and Deputies located drug paraphernalia along with suspected narcotics in a vehicle being driven by a St. Martinville woman. They also determined that she was also wanted on a Warrant For Failure To Appear.

The driver was identified as Melindy Daspit, 37, St. Martinville, LA., and she was arrested and charged as follows:

1 count-Failure To Appear (Criminal Neglect Of Family)

3 counts-Possession Of Marijuana With Intent To Distribute

3 counts-Possession Schedule II Narcotics

7 counts-Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

3-counts-Sale, Distribution or Possession of Legend Drug

1-count-Registration Plate Light Required

1-count-No Passing Zones

1-count-Operating Vehicle While License Suspended

Following her arrest, she was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges. At the time of this release, no bond had been set.
