Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrest a Houma Man After High Speed Chase

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Tyrell McKinley, 19, of 405 Roselawn Avenue, Houma, LA, on numerous charges following a high-speed pursuit early Saturday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on LA 1 in Labadieville, LA. The deputy attempted to execute a traffic stop on the southbound vehicle.

The vehicle pulled over on the shoulder and as the deputy ordered the suspect out of the vehicle, McKinley made an abrupt U-turn and headed north on LA 1. The deputy pursued the vehicle exceeding speeds of 100 mph.

McKinley turned west onto LA 70, drove a brief distance, then stopped his vehicle on the middle of the highway, exited and was arrested without further incident.
Deputies recovered marijuana and assorted paraphernalia in the suspect vehicle.
McKinley was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he was booked on charges of:
*Improper Turning
*No Driver’s License
*Failure to Yield
*Aggravated Flight (4 Counts)
*Obstruction of Justice (2 Counts)
*Reckless Operation
*Driving on Roadway Landed for Traffic
*Possession of Marijuana (3rd Offense – Felony)
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
McKinley was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
