One Dead, One Injured After A Shooting at A Jeanerette Parade


The victim who was shot and killed at the Krewe of Ezana’s Mardi Gras parade in Jeanerette has been identified as 22 year old Dante Archangel Sr. and the other victim who was shot in the leg and was taken to a local hospital but his condition wasn’t immediately released.


At 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon the Jeanerette City Marshal’s Office responded to a reported shooting during the Mardi Gras parade.  The shooting occurred  near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Monnot Road. Deputy Marshals found two male victims.  One victim had been shot in the chest and the other in the leg.  The victim with the chest wound was air lifted to a Lafayette hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service but has died from his wound.  The second victim was transported to a local hospital.  The Jeanerette City Marshal has requested the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office take over the investigation.
