U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy ok after Amtrak train crash, U.S. Senator John Kennedy & District 3 Congressman Clay Higgins not on train

Senator Bill Cassidy was on board the Amtrak train that was carrying Republican lawmakers and collided with a garbage truck. Cassidy tweeted that he and his wife, Laura are ok and assisted other passengers who were injured. One of the occupants in the truck was pronounced dead while another occupant is in serious condition. Some of lawmakers reported minor injuries.

The train was en route to a conference at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and hit the truck in Crozet, Virginia – which near west of Charlottesville.

Senator John Kennedy and U.S. District 3 Congressman Clay Higgins also posted on social media that they were not on the train and are safe.
