Update: Coast Guard ends search from missing person in Lake Pontchartrain

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard ended its search for a person in the water after the body was recovered in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, Wednesday.

A Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office marine unit recovered the deceased driver at 5 p.m.

Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 3:52 a.m. from Causeway Bridge authorities regarding a vehicle in the water after deputies reported the missing guardrail from the bridge, as well as propane tanks in the roadway.

Involved in the search was:

  • Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew
  • Coast Guard Station New Orleans 29-foot Response Boat-Small boatcrew
  • Causeway Police
  • Tammany Sheriff’s Office
  • Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office
