Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Ryan Zeringue Jr. (W/M, 32) for Attempted Simple Kidnapping, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Resisting an Officer.
On Friday, January 5th, at approximately 8:27 p.m., the pre-teen victim was walking the trash to the roadway in the 600 Block of Locust Street when a white male, later determined to be Ryan Zeringue Jr., approached the victim wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.
After asking the victim if the father was home, Ryan Zeringue grabbed the victim and attempted to pull the victim away with him. The victim was able to scream and get away, as Zeringue fled on foot between some houses in the area.
Police began searching the area, and located Zeringue in the 500 Block of Olive Street. Zeringue did not comply with Officers commands and kept one hand concealed, claiming Officers were harassing him. Suddenly, Zeringue removed his hand and threw an object a good distance away. Officers were able to take Zeringue into custody. The victim was able to positively identify Zeringue.
Police searched for the object that Zeringue threw in the area that he threw it in and spoke to a witness who said she heard a noise on her roof as Officers were yelling for Zeringue to get on the ground. Officers located a flashlight in the gutter of the home. Inside of the flashlight Officers recovered approximately 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine.
Ryan Zeringue Jr. is being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $30,500 bond.
