Fresh off of buying Whole Foods last year, could Amazon’s next acquisition target be… Target? That’s what well-known technology analyst Gene Munster is predicting, with Bloomberg saying he made the statement in a report highlighting his eight technology industry prediction for 2018. Munster wrote: “Target is the ideal offline partner for Amazon for two reasons, shared demographic and manageable but comprehensive store count,” noting that both companies focus on mothers and families. Munster isn’t the only one predicting what Amazon might do next. Analyst Tom Forte suggested in November that Lululemon might be attractive to Amazon, while another analyst, Paul Lejuez, recently named a list of potential acquisitions for Amazon, including Abercrombie & Fifth, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Advance Auto Parts.
