NO ONE DIED IN A COMMERCIAL JET CRASH LAST YEAR

No one died in a commercial jet crash anywhere in the world in 2017, The Independent reported, making it the safest year ever for the aviation industry. One year earlier, in 2016, there were 217 people killed in commercial airplane crashes, 471 people died in 2015, and 864 people died in 2014. Dutch aviation consultancy To70 said the odds of being in a deadly airplane crash are now one in 16 million, but lead researcher Adrian Young warned: “It is unlikely that this historic low will be maintained; in part, these very positive figures rest on good fortune.”
