NEW ORLEANS – Reggie Bush is officially retiring from the NFL and will do so as a New Orleans Saints, CBSSports.com reports.
During an interview with NFL Network on Friday, 32-year-old Bush said he is ready to hang up his cleats.
“Yeah, I’m done. I said it. It’s not breaking news. I’ve been saying it. I said it all season long, I said, ‘Listen, if I don’t play this year, I’m going to retire.’ Because I’m not going to spend a whole year off, come back, 33 years old, trying to get back in the league,” he said.
Bush was the second overall draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and plans to return to New Orleans to retire with the team that originally drafted him.
As of now, Bush will end his career with more than 9,000 yards from scrimmage. During his time in the NFL, he played with the Saints, Dolphins, Lion, 49ers and Bills.
Bush also won a Super Bowl in 2009 with the Saints.
