Wayne Stevens

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017, during a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin for Denis Wayne Stevens, a native of Jeanerette and longtime resident of Baldwin who passed away at the age of 74 on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date with a private memorial service.. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Naquin, Rocky Bishop, Glenn Miller, Mike Thibodeaux, Ray Robicheaux, Ryan Fitch, Jonathan Pillaro and Garret Burns..

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, December 14, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until Mass time.

Wayne grew up in Baldwin and married his true love, Gale Thibodeaux , on July 6, 1963. His family was uniquely close and subsequent generations have learned to embrace this. He always gave warmth and love that others felt in his presence and never met a stranger. He was passionate about his family, fishing, catering and spending quality time with his loved ones. He was a past grand knight of Knights of Columbus and a 3rd degree Knight, he was also a member of the Board of Port of West St. Mary and was recently elected President on December 5, 2017. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish her memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Gale Thibodeaux Stevens; two daughters, Jessica S. Burns and her husband Cheyenne and Mary Beth S. Pillaro and her husband Allen; four grandchildren, Lauren P. Comeaux and her husband, Blake, Jonathan Pillaro and his fiancee’ Brooklyn, Megan D. Russo and her husband Johnathan and Garret Burns; nine great grandchildren, McKenzie, McKarlie, Bentley, Noah, Paisley, Remmie, Joshua, Cady and Rivers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Wilfred Stevens and Julia Hebert Stevens and his brother, Clyde Stevens.
