Morgan City Police arrested a 36-year-old Patterson man early Saturday morning after a patrol officer working security detail observed gun shots being fired out of a dark colored SUV that was traveling on Victor II Blvd. Police arrested Arturo Garcia . Reports said another off-duty officer was able to follow the vehicle until patrol officers could arrive in the area. A stop was initiated and Arturo Garcia was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Garcia was found to be in an intoxicated state. Reports also indicated that Garcia was found to be in possession of a firearm that was reported stolen out of another jurisdiction. During the investigation it was learned that Garcia picked up another subject at a local bar in the area of Victor II Blvd. Garcia gave this subject the firearm and attempted to have him fire it out the window of the vehicle. The subject refused at which time Garcia began firing the gun himself. Garcia was also found not to possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail for Chemical Test. Upon arrival to the Morgan City Jail Garcia refused to submit to chemical test. It was also learned that Garcia has had been arrested for driving while intoxicated offenses two separate times. Garcia was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
