Four arrested after Pierre Part theft investigation

Police said Ganel transported the others to and from the victim's home.

PIERRE PART, La. – Four people are in jail after an investigation into a theft on July 16, 2017 that occurred on Bayou Drive in Pierre Part.  Police arrested 50-year-old Terrie Ganel, 32-year-old Kasey Thomas, 25-year-old Austin Albarado and 35-year-old Addie Breaux, all of Pierre Part.

The victim reported that multiple items, including a bank card and cash, had been stolen from inside of the residence while the four suspects were inside of the home.  Investigators learned that the victim had a physical infirmity that prevented him from observing what was occurring.

Through an investigation, Thomas, Breaux, Albarado and Ganel were identified as suspects and were located by the Morgan City Police Department at a motel in the area.  Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon said the suspects were in possession of some of the stolen items.  It was determined that Thomas committed the theft while Albarado and Breaux distracted the victim.  It is also alleged that Ganel transported the others to the victim’s residence with full knowledge of their intent to commit the crime.  Police said Ganel then drove Thomas, Breaux and Albardo to a motel in Morgan City.

Ganel was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Thursday on 1 count of principal to exploitation of persons with certain infirmities.  Thomas, Breaux, and Albarado are all in the Morgan City Jail awaiting to be released to Assumption Parish.  The three were also charged with 1 count each of exploitation of persons with certain infirmities.
