Chitimacha holds National Night Out last night

On August 1, 2017 the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department and Chitimacha Fire Protection held their annual National Night Out Against Crime with the rest of the Nation.

This year’s event included participation from local agencies who were on hand with information of services offered to the community. Each of the agencies works side by side with Law Enforcement to assist the community during their time of need.

National Night Out was introduced by the National Association of Town Watch in August of 1984 and has since been held every first Tuesday in August. National Night Out was designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood and police community partnerships, but more importantly to send a message to the criminals in the area that we as a community are no longer going to tolerate their criminal activities in our neighborhoods, working as a unified team.
