Franklin community working together to build memorial serenity garden

Plans are underway to change this empty lot into a serenity garden to honor Mayci Breaux and others that have been the victim of violence.

Franklin, LA – The City of Franklin community is launching a campaign to honor Mayci Breaux, the victim of a shooting in 2015 at the Grand Theater in Lafayette.  Revitalization efforts are under way to build a serenity garden along Main Street in Franklin.  There are also plans of a Mayci Breaux Memorial Amphitheater and sugar kettle fountain.  Those involved in the efforts said the fountain will represent, “turning something bitter into something sweet”.  Bricks will also be available for purchase for those who wish to memorialize.  Voting has been set up in hopes of obtaining a $100,000 grant to offset costs of building the garden and memorial amphitheater.  You can vote by visiting http://act.usatoday.com/submit-an-idea/#/gallery/57490526/
