Qualifying for Troy Brown’s vacated seat begins Wednesday

BATON ROUGE, La.—Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler is reminding everyone that qualifying for the special election to fill State Senate seat vacated by Sen. Troy Brown in District 2 begins Wednesday, March 15 and runs through Friday, March 17 at 4:30 p.m.

Candidates will qualify with their local, parish clerk of court. Senate District 2 includes parts of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John and West Baton Rouge parishes.

Once qualified, candidates will appear on the secretary of state’s website in real-time under “Elections & Voting,” “Get Election Information,” “Search for Candidates,” or by visiting https://voterportal.sos.la.gov/CandidateInquiry.

The Special Primary Election for Senate District 2 will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 and the Special General Election will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017. For more information on qualifying, visit the secretary of state’s website at www.sos.la.gov.
