Geismar Woman Arrested On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Dana Gordon Simmons, 52, of 37314 Highway 74, Geismar, LA, on drug related charges following a traffic stop near Grand Bayou late Monday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 70 near LA 69 and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop.

The deputy interviewed the driver and proceeded to interview the passenger who was identified as Simmons.

During the interview process, the deputy noted both the driver and passenger to be acting nervously.

The deputy determined that information provided by the passenger was found to be untruthful.

Based on all those factors as well as other observations, the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle and consent was granted.

During the search, a quantity of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia was seized and the deputy was able to conclude that the illegal property was the property of Dana Simmons.

Simmons was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Crack Cocaine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Third or Subsequent Felony)

Simmons remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
