It was a busy Mardi Gras afternoon for the Franklin Police Department as a shooting incident and a fight occurred following the Franklin Mardi Gras parade. Franklin Police Chief Morris Beverly told KQKI News that no one was injured as a result of the shots which were reportedly fired around 3:30 p.m on Martin Luther King Blvd. between 2nd and 3rd streets. One subject was apprehended for questioning but was later released and there have been no arrests made in the incident as of Monday evening.
As officers were investigating the shooting incident, an unrelated fight broke out several blocks away at the intersection of Martin Luther King Blvd. and 9th Street. Once victim was treated for their injuries at Franklin Foundation Hospital. However, Beverly did not have the victim’s condition available as of Monday night. Officers are currently questioning witnesses and potential suspects.
