After serving the Town of Berwick as a police officer for nearly two decades, Jonathan “J.P.” Henry will now have the opportunity to serve in a new capacity as Assistant Chief. Henry was promoted to the position by the Berwick Mayor and Council during their meeting Tuesday night. Newly appointed Police Chief David Leonard served as assistant chief until former chief James Richard retired and was elected to serve on the town council.
In a statement released to KQKI News, Henry said, “I would like to start off by thanking God who has protected me throughout the last 19 years on the job. Also thanks to my family, friends and community for the overwhelming support that has been shown to me throughout my career, especially the last few weeks. I want to thank Mayor (then Chief) Arthur for hiring me in August of 2000 and giving me my start as a police officer. Lastly, Chief David Leonard for entrusting me with this huge responsibility as Asst. Police Chief. I’m looking forward to continuing to serve our community and working with the great group of officers that we have.”
