Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Wednesday December 11, 2019
Jennifer Carmody W/F 33 Oregon St. Berwick was arrested on December 11, 2019 at 1:55PM for
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
- DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
- EXPIRED MVI
On December 11, 2019 at approximately 1:43 PM an officer patrolling the area of Fifth Street, observed a vehicle traveling in the middle of the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with Carmody. During the course of the stop it was learned that Carmody’s license was suspended and that her inspection sticker was expired. Carmody was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where she was booked on the charges of Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under Suspension, and Expired MVI. Posted bond and was released.
Juvenile H/M 17 Morgan City was arrested on December 11,2019 at 5:48PM for
- CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
- 2CTS. BATTERY ON A POLICE OFFICER
- RESISTING AN OFFICER
- UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS BY PERSONS UNDER 18
- ATTEMPTED THEFT
- ILLEGAL CARRYING OF A WEAPON (BURGLARY TOOLS)
On December 11,2019 at approximately 5:20 PM the Berwick Police Department responded to an attempted theft of a bicycle. While investigating the complaint. Officers located a subject matching the description given. When the juvenile seen officers he began to pedal in the opposite direction and refused to stop for officers. Officers caught the juvenile a short time later and learned that the biycle he was currently on had just been stolen from another residence. While placing the juvenile under arrest he resisted and kicked officers. A search of his property was done at which time tobacco and burglary tools were located on his person. The juvenile was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Theft, Attempted Theft, Criminal Trespassing, 2 counts Battery on a Police Officer , Resisting an Officer, Illegal Carrying of Weapons (burglary tools), and unlawful possession of tobacco products by persons under 18. Released pending juvenile court proceedings.

Ashton Allen W/M 28 Ehrlich St. Berwick was arrested on December 12, 2019 at 9:00 AM for
- PROBATION VIOLATION
- 2- MORGAN CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT WARRANTS
On December 12, 2019 at approximately 9:00 AM officers responded to an address on Ehrlich Street while assisting probation and parole in attempts to locate Allen. Allen was located at the residence and it was learned that he had two active warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. Allen was booked on a Probation Violation warrant and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
Wilbur Pool Jr. B/M 49 Ross Ln. Morgan City was arrested on December 12, 2019 at 9:54 PM for
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CRACK COCAINE
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE
- EXPIRED DRIVERS LICENSE
- EXPIRED LICENSE PLATE
- UNSAFE VEHICLE
- IMPROPER LIGHTING.
On December 12, 2019 at approximately 9:23 PM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle with improper lighting. Officers met with the driver Pool Jr. During the stop it was learned that Pool’s license and license plate was expired. While speaking with Pool he attempted to eat Crack Cocaine. A search of the vehicle was done and Crack Cocaine was located in the vehicle. Crack Cocaine was also located on his person. Furthermore it was learned that the vehicle Pool was driving was not safe to be on the road as major parts were held together with wires. Pool was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance Crack Cocaine, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unsafe Vehicle, Expired Driver’s license, Expired License Plate, and Improper Lighting. No bond set at this time.
